HTML Free Beginners Guides

Hello Fellow Home Executives,
I felt is was necessary to address HTML code. HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. It is computer language. You do not need to be a computer guru to use it. I sprinkle it throughout my site, but www.gourmetbakingmixes.com is not written completely in HTML. There are a lot of web designers who do the same thing. If you have never used HTML code, it is not as hard as it seems. If you just learn the basics you can really punch up a website or blog and make a plane page really jump out and scream to be read. There are some great resources out there online and the two I've listed are FREE! The sites I used weren't the "end all be all" in every code you would ever need for HTML, but they gave me a good start. HTML Tutorial is a great place to start. This website gives you step by step instructions. It even lets you try out the code you created to see what it looks like. It was a big help to me because I knew nothing about HTML code before I got started designing my website. When I did design and publish my site without HTML code it was very "Flat". No excitement. Nothing jumped out at you and said READ ME! Then I looked up HTML Tutorial online and went through the tutorial. My site looked much more appealing. I still have much more to learn. HTML Tutorial is a great beginning, but not a complete guide. It definitely gave me more confidence in web design and now I use the little code I know all the time.

Check out HTML Tutorial if you need to put a little zing into your blog or website. After you have a feel for HTML try the link below.

Another site I really liked Bare Bones Guide to HTML. The name says it all.

FREE Stat Counter

After I checked my email this morning I typed www.statcounter.com into my web browser and checked all my stats for Gourmet Baking Mixes and for The Home Executive to see how much traffic I received yesterday and already today. www.statcounter.com is a free service you can get for a blog or a website. There is lots of information you can get from this free service about your site or blog. You can see how many hits you received that day, how long they stayed, where the hit came from (not the name of the person, just the city). The web browser they used, what pages they loaded, what search engine they used, what they typed in the search engine to get to your site or blog, the system they used, keyword analysis, what page they entered, what page they exited and soooooo much more. If you have more than one project going on at the same time, you just put them all under one account so you don't have to re-login for each project. Did I tell you they email you regularly with a summary of your activity? I like to use that to compare weeks and months together at a glance. Did I tell you www.statcounter.com is free? You just install some invisible HTML code onto the pages you want track and that's it. I was so thankful for this service that I installed some visible HTML code so I could help get the word out there.
www.statcounter.com is a great way to fine tune your site or blog to give your customers/readers what they are looking for.

Happy Blogging,
Jody

Hello Fellow Home Executives!

My name is Jody Rossing and I run two successful home based businesses. One is a website http://www.gourmetbakingmixes.com/ were I sell, just like it sounds Gourmet Baking Mixes. I have been in business since July 2006. I knew little about designing websites or being in business for that matter before I started, but have been lead by some very smart people and have learned A LOT. I made this blog just to share what I know and what has worked for me. I would also love this blog to be a place where people can share information. There is so much information out there and so much of it is GARBAGE. I thought this would be a great way to filter out the trash and get to what really works. I would like this blog to be a place where we can all learn more about being Home Executives.

As I mentioned, I also recently signed up to be a Longaberger Consultant and am gaining speed in my new business. You can shop Longaberger products online at www.longaberger.com/jodyrossing. I am a stay-at-home mom and thought it would be a great way to get out and be with the girls. It has proven to be quite fun. Longaberger is a company that sells baskets handmade in the US. Longaberger also sells wrought iron furniture, pottery, candles and jewelry. Check out the beautiful products at www.longaberger.com/jodyrossing. If you would like to have a catalog show and get the savings you can email me at jolovesr@yahoo.com and I will send you all the information you need.

I am still in the process of setting up this blog and will soon have all the websites and tools I have used to make my business a success posted.

Feel free to post information that would help others on their quest to be a Home Executive.

This is my first attemp to publish a blog so any useful, contructive information would be greatly appreciated!

Here is a video of one of the products I used to get my www.gourmetbakingmixes.com up and running. I would not have been as successfull without it. Take a look.
